Producer

Otherhalf is a small, senior-only Shopify Plus Partner doing custom theme builds and brand identity work for DTC brands. Our design and dev team works remote-first and async-first – that's what protects the focus time that makes the work good. We're under ten people right now, growing fast, and have no interest in getting big just to get big.

The Role

We're hiring our first dedicated Producer – the person who owns client projects end to end: schedules, scope, budget, communication, and the hundred small judgment calls that keep a build on track. This is the one client-facing seat that isn't async: you're the live conversation, the calls, the real-time read on a client's tone and concerns. You'll then turn all of that into clear, async-ready briefs so the rest of the team can execute without needing to be in the room. You'll be the only producer at Otherhalf, which means more ownership than the same title usually carries. There's no bench of senior producers above you catching what slips. We need someone who doesn't need catching.

Because you're first in this seat, part of the job is building it. Our processes need to scale with us – better scoping templates, cleaner handoffs, the automations that quietly save everyone an hour a week. That's not a side project. It's a core part of what we're hiring for.

What you'll do
  • Own client projects from kickoff through launch – timelines, milestones, dependencies, delivery
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients: status updates, check-ins, and the harder conversations when scope or budget need to shift
  • Handle client conversations solo and in real time, then translate them into clear, async-ready briefs your team can pick up and run with – no live relay required
  • Track budgets against scope, monitor burn, and flag risk early with a clear, direct read on what a change actually costs
  • Coordinate designers and developers so everyone knows what they're working on and what's in their way
  • Translate client requests into requirements the team can act on without a second round of questions
  • Contribute to scoping and estimation with real technical grounding, not just transcription
  • Build and refine the systems, templates, and automations that let the studio run more efficiently as we grow
  • Run genuine QA passes, manage feedback rounds, and own launch checklists and post-launch follow-up
  • Spot problems before they're problems, and bring a solution along with the warning
What you bring
  • 3+ years managing Shopify projects, ideally at an agency of 30 people or fewer – you know what startup pace and stakes actually feel like, and you're not looking for a bigger, slower machine
  • Hands-on experience across multiple builds and a track record of shipping on time
  • Solid understanding of modern theme architecture (sections, blocks, metafields, metaobjects) and what a given design change costs in build effort
  • The judgment to tell a theme customization from an app-based fix from real custom development, and to know which one a request actually needs
  • A working sense of Shopify's limits: checkout customization, what Plus unlocks, variant constraints, what's genuinely hard versus just fiddly
  • Familiarity with the app ecosystem and its trade-offs – subscriptions, performance cost, app conflicts as a real category of bug
  • Understanding of replatform and migration realities: data mapping, redirects, SEO, the things that bite three weeks in
  • Bonus: you've led a replatform or migration start to finish, or worked on Shopify Plus
How you work
  • A strategic thinker, not just a tactical one. You notice when a process is broken and fix it rather than work around it
  • Excellent written communication; nothing important lives only in your head
  • Real organizational discipline – you follow up without being reminded and close your own loops
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and incomplete briefs
  • Empathy and directness in the same person – you can hold the line on scope and still be kind about it
  • A calm, genuinely positive presence, especially the week a launch gets messy
  • Able to juggle several concurrent clients with competing priorities without dropping the thread on any of them
Tools we use

Slack, Notion, Figma, and Granola. If you already work this way, you'll feel at home fast.

Working at Otherhalf
  • You'll be joining a senior team with roots at Shopify, Sharma Brands, Pointer, ehouse, and Domaine
  • Remote (work from anywhere, anytime)
  • You'll work directly with brands and have real ownership over the work
  • We value work-life harmony and offer generous time off, including 4 weeks of PTO and an additional 2 weeks during the holiday season
  • Annual team gathering
  • Health and dental package
  • Competitive compensation based on experience
