The brands we keep coming back to

Some brands show up in our swipe file once. Others keep showing up – in different conversations, different contexts, sometimes months apart. They're the ones we reference in client calls, screenshot for mood boards, and occasionally buy products from because the design made us do it. Here are 8 that have earned permanent residency in our collective brain.

1. Graza

The olive oil that set the standard

We don't even need to explain this one to other designers – you already know. Graza's squeeze-bottle olive oil basically rewrote the rules for DTC food branding, and their site does exactly what a great brand site should: it makes the product feel inevitable. When Amber spotted a new brand that had clearly "borrowed" their entire design language, the only comment needed was "don't think they could have swiped more of Graza's design if they tried." That's the kind of recognition that only comes from being the reference point everyone's measuring against.

2. Swim Club

Branding commitment taken to its logical (and hilarious) extreme

Jaz's original post was "obsessed with this site" and it spiralled from there. Swim Club sells a sperm performance supplement and they leaned all the way in – the hover states "build," the footer logo animates as a nod to the product, and little animated sperm follow you down the homepage to the CTA. It's the kind of branding that only works because nobody on the team flinched. We reference this one constantly.

3. DedCool

Organized chaos we actually buy

Marina called it "busy and chaotic" at first glance, then immediately added "but the longer I look the more I like it." Samantha nailed the description: "organized chaos – I like the contrast between the clean grid lines and the blurred gradients." This is also one of the rare swipe file entries where we've actually used the product – Jaz got the sample tin and was genuinely impressed. When the design and the product both deliver, a brand earns a different kind of respect.

4. Good Wipes

"Every booty" energy

Marina posted this and within minutes the whole team was on their phones riffing. The hero section background video is a vibe. The "every booty" copywriting made us smile. And then Amber said she badly wanted to swipe the wipe and have it come out of the packaging – which is both an insane idea and the exact kind of detail we'd want to build. That's the mark of a brand that inspires you to think bigger.

5. Lucille Health

Senior care branding that doesn't look like senior care

Jaz dropped this with a crying-face emoji and the words "i love this concept" and it kicked off one of the longest threads in the channel. Marina loved that the branding is fun even though it's for seniors. Samantha pointed out the smart play – they're marketing to kids and grandkids, not just the end user. The thread somehow ended with Amber sharing what her Nan thinks about Boost vs. Ensure. That's the kind of conversation a truly good brand starts.

6. Aritzia

The one that keeps showing up for different reasons

Aritzia pops up in our swipe file more than almost any other brand, and never for the same thing twice. Jaz posted their rotating category models on the Super Puff page. Donna flagged the product copy as "10/10." They keep earning spots in our mood boards because they keep doing interesting things – not flashy, just quietly thoughtful in ways that reward close attention.

7. Callbaba

The most serene website we've ever seen

Marina posted this and the thread was unusually calm – fitting, given the site itself. "So smooth. So peaceful." A bird flies across the page on scroll. Amber loved it. Jaz said "I have never seen such a serene website." In a swipe file full of bold moves and loud heroes, Callbaba stands out by being the exact opposite. Sometimes restraint is the most impressive design decision.

8. Mode Chocolate

Custom icon animations that are genuinely insane

Amber was so excited about Mode's custom icon animations that she apologized for spamming the channel – "I'm pasting them here so I can relook without going in the link, they are too good." That's the thing about Mode: it's not just one element, it's the cumulative effect of a brand that thought about every single detail. It ended up being direct inspiration for client work, which is the highest honour a swipe file entry can receive.

These are the brands that have earned their spot on permanent rotation. The ones we keep pulling into mood boards, dropping into client presentations, and occasionally impulse-buying from at midnight. If there's a brand you think belongs on this list, we want to hear about it.

💙 Sincerely, your Otherhalf
